Guggenheim Helsinki 57: Guggenheimin brändi, osa n.

Guggenheimin brändi muotoutuu lisää. Kuvataiteilijat Paul McCarthy (s. 1945) ja Mike Bouchet (s. 1970) pitävät yhdessä näyttelyä (15.2.–20.4.) Portikuksessa Frankfurtissa. Näyttely on instituutiokriittinen, ja se sai myös 1.4. satelliitin Bilbaoon. Bilbaolaiseen kadunkulmaan ilmestyi jättivinyylilakana, jossa McCarthy ja Bouchet olivat tuunanneet Frank Gehryn Bilbao-luomuksen sotalaivaksi:

Guggenheim hermostui ja vaati sen poistamista sekä tavaramerkkirikkomuksena että heitä loukkaavana. Ja läpihän se meni: lakana poistettiin viime perjantaina.

Ja tässä The Daily Beastista: What’s the purpose of these museums?” pondered Bouchet in a recent phone conversation. “The purpose of museums like this probably have more to do with city tourism than with art.”
